Octave Beauty!

Check out this amazingly perfect original Tycobrahe Octavia from our friend Dave Fox, yes the same man behind FoxRox Electronics...

here's the background story:
Back in 1990 I was working with Jim Gamble, who was the cheif engineer at Tycobrahe in the 70's. Through that association, I got to know Dirk Shubert, who was also an engineer at Tycobrahe. One day I did some work for Dirk and I told him about my interest in the very rare "Tycobrahe Octavia" effect pedal. A few days later a gift came in the mail. An Octavia, still in its original wooden box along with a Tycobrahe sticker, information sheet and warranty card with instructions.

Man, the 60's must have been a crazy time for fuzz-addicts.
Think about how insane it must have been to walk into a guitar store and the dude behind the counter hands you these boxes of scuzz to mess around with...

The King Has Come! rejoice and be glad.

Earlier this week friend of the blog Bart/Discofreq (of effectsdatabase.com) scored, what over the years has become an almost mythical pedal, the Leo Fuzz King.

This Japanese Fuzz/(Wah?), which I am going to assume is from the mid-70's, was first and up until this point only, seen on the video for Yurayura Teikoku's song "Tsumetai Gift". Which we actually posted a while back RIGHT HERE.

At this point, the Leo Fuzz King is still considered an extremely rare stomp, with now only 2 known to exist, and possibly a third that an ex-collector remembered having as part his stash...

So be on the lookout!
It's enormous, so it shouldn't be hard to spot.
Who knows, maybe you have one holding up the foundation of your house or something?

Strange EHX Axis Fuzz...?

Check out this oddity, and yet another awesome contribution from our friend Jerms; it's an Electro Harmonix Axis Fuzz that isn't really an Axis Fuzz at all...


"So what is it ?" you may be asking.
We'll just let Jerms explain himself;
I traced it out and it is a 2 transistor muff fuzz with a big muff tone stack tacked on, with a makeup gain transistor added on the end.
Duh!
I'm sure that is what you were thinking.

Check out the amazing point-to-point wiring going on in there!
Always thankful to Jerms and especially for sharing this badass fuzz, as it becomes yet another piece of the greater Big Muff puzzle.

Rotosound Fuzz Box, how I covet thee...

Back in August, friend of the blog John posted a write-up of a new addition to his fuzzy family, over at my 2nd home the D*A*M Board.  It's the incredibly rare and highly sought after Rotosound Fuzz Box.  This one is extra special in that it's equipped with 3 Mullard OC81D's (regarded by many to be the pinnacle of fuzz transistors). 

The sound is as raw as you can get, and would easily engulf a stadium full of screaming, drunk, dazed and confused Rock fanatics. Although there was a recent "reissue"of this icon, many feel as though it fell well short of this ability to capture the masses...
I'll let you be the judge.
